PORTRAITS OF OTHER WORLDS

Graphite-Ink-Gouache-Dreams

Portraits of Other Worlds. I wonder if this should be a single project or a project category itself. And this makes me consider each drawing as a single entity and also as part of a larger exploration. I’m drawn more to the latter, with less emphasis on individual “pieces”, which would be more conventional.

As it is with most of my other works, “Portraits of Other Worlds” cannot be understood without narrative, even if the narrative is a complete mystery.

I refer to all the works as drawings, even the gouache paintings. I just don’t like to paint. It’s to easy to get caught up in meta-painting and painterly-preoccupation. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not the concept I mean to tackle. So I just call it drawing.
